Play well with others...
Remember playing in the sandbox when you were in
kindergarten? It was way more fun when you were playing in the sand with
your best buds, wasn't it? Well, the Professors Lake area is your
sandbox now. Let's get together to play and, now that we're adults (at
least physically if not mentally), put a little effort into making sure our
sandbox is well looked after.
We (the PLNRAC) represent the residents of our
proud neighbourhood. We are the organizing committee for the famous
Professors Lake Beach Parties
and the annual Heat Wave Dance (every February - brrr!).
And we are actively involved in maintaining and improving the quality of our
community.
Currently, our Executive Committee
consists of approximately 16 members and we meet six to eight times per year. We have had a
variety of speakers at our meetings (for example: Animal Control, Peel
Regional Police, Safe City, Brampton Pathways Committee, etc.) to help keep us
current on matters affecting our community. Councillor Gael
Miles and Councillor Sandra Hames are always invited and are usually in
attendance. We are very fortunate to have such supportive Councilors in
our area.
Our issues pertain not only to our
immediate neighbourhood, but also to the City of Brampton. We sometimes hold
"Town Hall" forums to which many City of Brampton staff are invited (Bylaw,
Planning, Parks and Recreation, etc.).
The success of our committee is due in
part to a great mix of Councilors, City Staff and Professor's Lake area
residents and businesses. The enthusiastic participation of all these
people contributes
significantly to the enjoyment of our
high quality community.
Congratulations! You have demonstrated an ability to
play well with others in your sandbox. Your Momma would be proud of you!
